Sofia DeBlanc, CPA

Sofia DeBlanc is a financial executive, entrepreneur, and community leader with more than 16 years of experience in financial services and federal advisory work. A senior risk and compliance leader, she built her career at one of the world's top accounting firms. Ultimately, Sofia made the deliberate choice to direct her expertise toward entrepreneurs, owner-operated trade businesses, and financial institutions and founded DeBlanc CPA.

Federal Audit & Risk Advisory

Sofia began her career as an external auditor of major U.S. federal government programs overseas, formative work that built the technical foundation and field discipline that would carry through every stage of her career and ultimately led her to Deloitte.

At Deloitte, she rose to Senior Manager in the firm's Government and Public Sector (GPS) Advisory practice, where she implemented complex risk and compliance programs for federal government agencies and some of the nation's largest financial institutions and credit unions. Her engagements spanned Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework implementation, and high-stakes work demanding both deep technical mastery and the leadership to guide institutions through change.

Amongst many engagements, she led a successful interagency transition supporting U.S. federal agencies operating overseas, standing up and scaling the operational structures needed to carry a critical, time-sensitive mission through a high-visibility transition. Throughout her tenure, she managed a substantial client portfolio and owned end-to-end delivery for executive relationships.

Beyond her client work, Sofia led an initiative to launch a women's mentorship program that connected more than 2,000 women from Afghanistan with world-class mentors at a Big 4 firm, opening a pathway to professional opportunity that few had previously been able to access.

Founding DeBlanc CPA

Post-Big 4 career, Sofia is the founder and Managing Principal at DeBlanc CPA, a specialized accounting and advisory firm. Sofia believes America's trade service entrepreneurs and community financial institutions deserve the same quality of financial counsel the largest organizations receive. Drawing on her decades of technical and leadership background, she delivers controller-level accounting, Fractional CFO advisory, and internal controls services to the trade contractors who power the Mid-Atlantic economy and the community banks that serve them.

DeBlanc CPA is certified as an SBA EDWOSB, WOSB, and Virginia State-certified SWaM business, is SAM-registered, and operates as an Intuit Certified ProAdvisor practice. Sofia holds a Virginia CPA license. The firm launched immediately in the Northern Virginia business community, with strategic partnerships spanning the Prince William Chamber of Commerce, Intuit, ADP, and Paychex, among others.

Board Treasurer, Women for Afghan Women

Sofia serves as a Board member and Treasurer of Women for Afghan Women (WAW). She applies her financial expertise to the organization's governance and fiscal sustainability, work that sits at the intersection of her profession and her heritage.

Recognition & Education

Sofia has been recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 by CPA Advisor. A licensed CPA in the State of Virginia. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Richmond. Sofia speaks Dari (Native), Pashto, and Urdu, and reads/writes Arabic. Sofia holds a U.S. Department of Defense Secret clearance, reflecting both the multicultural perspective and the institutional trust she brings to her work and community. Sofia is married and is raising a growing family, including two toddlers. Outside of work and community engagements, Sofia loves spending time with family, Afghan cooking, and hosting.
