About

Sofia DeBlanc, CPA is a financial executive, entrepreneur, and community leader whose career embodies the intersection of institutional excellence and purposeful service. After more than a decade building one of the most respected track records in Big 4 federal advisory, she made the deliberate choice to direct that expertise toward the entrepreneurs and communities that needed it most. Her story, from Deloitte senior manager to founder of her own firm, from accomplished professional to Board Treasurer of Women for Afghan Women, reflects a conviction that financial knowledge is not a privilege reserved for large institutions, but a tool that must be made accessible to everyone.

Over a Decade of Big 4 Federal Advisory at Deloitte

Sofia spent more than 11 years at Deloitte, rising to Senior Manager within the firm's Government and Public Sector practice, one of the most demanding and consequential areas of professional services in the country. Her work centered on financial statement audits, SOX 404 compliance, and internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) for major federal government agencies and quasi-federal institutions. At the Senior Manager level, she led engagements with teams of 60 or more professionals across multiple workstreams, managed significant annual budgets, and was responsible for the full arc of engagement delivery, from scoping and risk assessment to quality review and client relationship management.

Her work at Deloitte also included spearheading the implementation of major accounting standards changes, including FASB ASC 842 (lease accounting) and FASB ASC 606 (revenue recognition), complex, high-stakes transitions that required both deep technical mastery and the organizational leadership to guide clients through transformational change. She also played a central role in business development, developing proposals, win themes, and strategic direction to help Deloitte continue growing its federal practice. She was a consistent advocate for diversity and inclusion within the firm, creating supportive environments for underrepresented team members throughout her tenure.

Early in her career, Sofia also traveled internationally to audit major U.S. federal government programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Singapore, a formative experience that deepened both her technical foundation and her personal connection to the communities she would later champion.

Founding DeBlanc CPA: Bringing Institutional Rigor to Main Street

In December 2025, Sofia founded DeBlanc CPA on a straightforward but powerful premise: that America's trade service entrepreneurs and community financial institutions deserve the same quality of financial counsel that the country's largest organizations receive. Drawing on more than 13 years of Big 4 and external audit experience, she built DeBlanc CPA to deliver controller-level accounting, Fractional CFO advisory, and internal controls services to two underserved markets: trade contractors who power the Mid-Atlantic economy and the community banks that serve them.

The firm is certified as a SBA EDWOSB (Economically Disadvantaged Women-Owned Small Business), WOSB, SWaM, and SAM-registered entity, credentials that reflect both Sofia's standing as a woman entrepreneur and her firm's eligibility to serve in the federal contracting market. DeBlanc CPA is also an Intuit Certified ProAdvisor practice, and Sofia holds a Virginia CPA license issued by the VABOA. The launch of the firm was recognized widely in her professional network, earning immediate traction in the Northern Virginia business community through partnerships with the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and major platforms including Intuit and ADP.

Board Treasurer, Women for Afghan Women

Since August 2023, Sofia has served as Board Treasurer of Women for Afghan Women (WAW), one of the most impactful Afghan women's rights organizations in the United States and Afghanistan, providing direct services to Afghan women and girls facing violence, displacement, and economic exclusion. In the Treasurer role, she applies her financial expertise directly to the governance and sustainability of an organization whose work has never been more urgent. Her service on the WAW board reflects a deep personal commitment to the advancement and protection of Afghan women that extends far beyond her professional accomplishments.

Recognized as a Top 40 Under 40

Sofia has been recognized as a Top 40 Under 40, an honor that acknowledges not only her professional achievement but her broader contributions to her industry and community. It is a distinction that speaks to the full arc of what she has built: a career of institutional excellence, an entrepreneurial venture rooted in purpose, and a record of community service that reflects the values she brings to everything she does.

Education

Sofia holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Richmond and an Associate Degree in Business Administration from the Kardon Institute of Business Administration. She is fluent in English and Pashto, with proficiency in additional languages, a reflection of the multicultural background that informs her perspective as both a professional and a community leader.
